Mixable by hand or by automatic mixing/dispensing method. DOWSIL® Sylgard® 186 Silicone Elastomer Clear is a two component, room temperature and heat curing encapsulant that is used as protective coating for: LED Lighting encapsulation, Power supplies, Connectors Sensors, Industrial controls, Transformers, Amplifiers, High voltage resistor packs, Relays, Adhesive/encapsulant for solar cells, Adhesive handling beam lead integrated circuits during processing. It provides flowability, flame resistance, and good dielectric properties. 10:1 mix ratio. POT LIFE AND CURE RATE: Cure reaction begins with the mixing process. Initially, cure is evidenced by a gradual increase in viscosity, followed by gelation and conversion to a solid elastomer. Pot life is defined as the time required for viscosity to double after Parts A and B (base and curing agent) are mixed and is highly temperature and application dependent. Please refer to the data table. Always follow the manufacturer’s mix and use instructions. NOTE: DOWSIL SYLGARD 186 is the new name for the former Dow Corning Sylgard 186. Dow Corning is now fully owned by Dow Chemical Corporation and the Dow Corning name has been eliminated from the products. All former Dow Corning products are now identified by Dow Chemical under the DOWSIL or MOLYKOTE trademarks.
